Nathan's wearing his monkey pajamas tonight. We've joked about how my sister is a monkey's aunt. Which got me thinking....
I haven't said the expression "I'll be a monkey's uncle" in a really long time. In fact, I haven't even thought of it for many years.
What are some other mainstream expressions we used to use but don't anymore? I'm interested to hear what you think dear readers. In the meantime, I'll see what I can conjure up and write about them later.

Well I'll be John Brown
You had better get your ducks in a row!
Between you, me and the fencepost!
Well I swanny!
I ain't seen you in a coon's age! why, you were just knee-high to a grasshopper! Lol..
I have heard "For the love of Mike" and also Pete. Lol...there are tons more I can think of. We did this on the message bb once and it was very interesting. I learned a lot about what some of these old sayings mean, like "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water" Someone said back in the olden days, babies were the last to be bathed because there was always the possibility they would soil the water. By the time it came time for baby, the water was too dirty to see into. Others say this is just an old wives tale, but the saying had to have come from something. Dag-nabbit or dad blame-it, katy-bar-the door... heard it might rain cats and dogs next weekend.
I'm going to see a man about a dog. (Basically means none of your business where I'm going)
Hey Alli,
How are you? I'm finer than frog hair but it seems like we haven't spoken in a coon's age.
I was just sitting here like a bump on a log. I'd like to see you soon - I know you'd be a sight for sore eyes. We should get together in two shakes of a dog's tail.
I hope I'm not barking up the wrong tree. I think we would have a great time together. We are two peas in a pod.
Well, for now I'll put that in my pipe and smoke it. :) But,
I won't get my feathers ruffled. Maybe I'll just go hog wild!
Love,
Kenya
Okay, I need a hobby. Or, maybe a job. :) Anyway, these were some of those good 'ol country/slang sayings that came to mind.
Thanks to all who've posted! I'd say more, but the cat's got my tongue!
